Leonidas of Sparta — The Last Stand
Historical Summary
Leonidas I (c. 540–480 BCE) was the King of Sparta and one of history’s most legendary warriors.
In 480 BCE, when the Persian Empire invaded Greece, Leonidas led just 300 Spartan soldiers and a few thousand allies to defend the mountain pass at Thermopylae. Vastly outnumbered by King Xerxes’ massive army, they fought to the death — holding the line long enough to change the course of history.
Leonidas didn’t fight for victory — he fought for honor, freedom, and legacy.
His stand became a timeless symbol of courage in the face of impossible odds.
For the Divine Rebels spirit, he represents unyielding resolve, the idea that true power is standing your ground when everyone else runs.
